Pedal your way

Yesterday I came across a delivery boy. He looked hardly above 10, and was riding a bicycle meant for adults, that was twice his size. The rather good part of this is that how many of us have realized the simplicity is riding a bicycle? These newspaper boys, delivery boys, milkmen ,people residing in villages all rely heavily in cycles. This in turn keeps them extremely fit and strong. Whereas we city dwellers often happen to look at cycling as a low,”not cool” means of travelling. How can we give up the luxury of  a Mercedes, an Audi, a Hayabusa and switch on to something as basic as cycling? Well, we live in a fool’s paradise. Cycling not only makes you stronger, fitter but builds up endurance which is an extremely important tool to build up patience .This helps immensely in keeping a control of our minds between the day to day rut that one has to go through.
It is cheap and an effective means of cycling. In India, even though many people know this, they will not implement it as they get caught up in thoughts like, “Im too old to cycle”, “It will be embarrassing for me to cycle through the roads in formals to work” .”People will think, shes  kanjoos  to buy a car. She could have atleast bought a scooty”. Well, who cares what people think. When you will be unhealthy, will these help come to your rescue?
In countries like London, many of the richest few donot own vehicles. They prefer cycling down to work using the public cycles in blazers, all geared up for the big meeting. That is one of the reasons why they are healthy, not only physically but mentally as well.
We have complicated our lives so much with unnecessary things that we have forgotten such basic means of enjoyment. Also, it is the best means of cardiovascular exercise one can think about.

So, take your step..get on that bike and increase your happiness quotient!
I have started cycling ..You’re next!

Rabindrasangeet

Here is one of the most smoothening and pacifying music existing in our Indian culture. Started in the 1800’s by Rabindranath Tagore ,most of which translated from their Scottish versions, are undoubtedly the element to look out for. The lyrics being mostly related to nature and music in its purest form gives much more than satisfaction.Only by listening to it (and not understanding the lyrics) itself brings such sense of joy that when one truly understands and relates to the the lyrics, it is addictive. It is like a drug that only Ranbindra Sangeet afficionado’s understand. They undoubtedly provide a true sense of being and theres nothing like listening to Ranbindrasangeet with a cup of tea in the early morning. It totally alleviates your entire day!
These days however, with the daily rut and nuisance all over, most people have complicated their lives. Ranbindrasangeet essentially connects you with your inner being and with nature. It is sadly restricted to the East India and the Bengalis settled elsewhere. We must make an effort to publicise it more so that this piece of art gets more recognition ,something that is very well deserved. Shantiniketan(West Bengal) is the land of Rabindrasangeet. So guys, where do we start from?
These are a few songs that one can begin with and understand the meaning in totality. Then nothing at all can separate you from your Peace Of Mind. This essentially shows you the meaning of being materialistic and just being. Most of these have also been translated into Hindi songs song by the great Kishore Kumar .Also most of them have been attempted by legendary singers like Lata Mangeshkar,Asha Bhosle, Kavita Krishnamurthy,Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan and so on.

1.       Purano shei Diner Kotha (those were the days my friend)
2.       Aaj amader chutti re bhai(yaaay!finally we are free)
3.       Dariye Acho tumi amar gaaner opare( With my song , it is you that I see)
4.       Aguner Poroshmoni Chowar prane( Power of Agni!)
5.       Jodi Tor Daak Shune Keo Na ashe, tobe ekla chole re( Walk your path alone)

So friends, Cheers to  the new beginning!
