Patience, my friend!

Patience is something that majority of us lack these and is one the virtues that our ancestors possessed which definitely had its perks. With growing technology and ease of connectivity  , there is less that one has to strive for and hence forget losing patience, we do not have it in the first place. Now do we think about such things? Well it is true that in today’s fast paced   world, everyone requires everything on the go. But there is no end to this and one needs to cultivate patience to become a stronger and better individual in the long run. Patience is an enormous art and can heal diseases and serious life threatening issues. If is of utmost importance that one develops patience to such a level that you are entirely self contained and external factors don’t work on you.
This is one of the therapies advised by leading health and medical institutions and also the Chinese Monks, Dalai Lama etc , this is what keeps them on track. Compare a person with patience and someone who is agitated and the former is way beyond reach. And the best part is patience is also cultivated by having patience and any man can reach there provided he works upon himself in a conscious manner.
Now having said this, where are we to start from?

-Stay away from your phone
Will the world come to an end if you do not attend to your phone for a while?
-Fall in love with nature
There is nothing that can get better than living and appreciating the pulchritude of nature
-Read Classics
Fall in love with literature and notice the different you.
-Deal with procrastination
Wake up Sid
-Interact more with your loved ones.
Why do we so often forget them and our remniscient times?

"If you think adventure is dangerous, try out patience. It is Lethal"

Calm Down

We are so busy running to achieve our goals   , dreams that we miss out on the basic things provided by life. We ignore people   , think a great deal of ourselves and only constantly ponder about what we want in life. I think all us need to calm down at some point and just let go. Relax. At times we just need to switch off our minds. Keeping on thinking will not take us anywhere beyond a point and will only create frustration. So we need to essentially chill. Meditation is a huge source of mental stability but it’s sad that although most of us know the medicinal value of meditation, only a chosen few practice it.
It’s perfectly alright to let go off certain things. But an adequate action is needed.
If you hate your job- Leave it (Of course you will be worried about what next, but again, calm down. Something will follow through).
If you don’t like studying- don’t (It’s ok not to do well in every exam)

Sadly, we are always playing a dual role between what we want and what is expected from us and hence we’re always thinking and planning and executing and are being greedy. But If we just go about what we want to do and relax, life will on the whole become so much more easier. At the end of the day, what matters is how stable we are in the long run. Though many wont think so now, but we don’t want to be guilty for what we should have done now  10 years later. Also the power of habit essentially comes into play here. People must not work hard but hardly work. We must cultivate this habit since an early age and then studies, jobs, adversities in life everything will just flow smoothly and we can enjoy essentially the things that we love …take a walk, swim, stroll around …and Calm Down because there’s never a The end to anything.

Normalcy in Eccentricity

We have so many dreams, desires, feelings that we seldom do justice to. We follow the path of so called normalcy and live an unfulfilled life. Since this the football season let me tell you that I have been immensely motivated by the Football Couple at Kolkata. The 81 yr old man and his 70 yr old wife are so passionate about the game that they travel each year since 1982 to the World Cup location .And no they are not rich. They survive on the little pension money received per month and buy selling saris from home. They save every penny they can to make it to the World Cup .They save up on their food as well and merely   survive on the bare minimum. Now we ‘normal people’ would think this to be eccentric right? Think about it. The satisfaction and joy they receive after returning from the World Cup each year, the pleasure of meeting stalwarts like Pele and watching Maradona’s hand of god, when they see their sacrifices bloom into such pleasures? Yes it is eccentricity. But these are the type of people who don’t have any regrets at their deathbeds. But we people have so many. We too have so many desires but we simply let them go , No one can insult yourself more than you by doing such things. And this feeling of repentance, if’s and but’s   ,loads of excuses is more  deep rooted than you will think it is. Such people dont have less problems. The legendary singer, Kishore Kumar was insecure of the money that he earned. He did not even trust the banks, he sowed every penny in his backyard. Now this kind of insecurity is not small. It must have eaten him up ,but he chose to rise above it and do what he is best at, music.Stars like Rowan Atkinson(Mr.Bean),Charlie Chaplin were sufferers, and hence they strived every bit to make the world understand the joy of being happy and feeling lucky for what each one had.Because someone somewhere would feel very rich to live your life. So we need to take that one small step and realize our higher purpose of being and follow our dreams. The kind of joy obtained in being eccentric is immense, something that normal people will not even relate to. Now this choice is in your hands, you want to be normal or eccentric?

Importance of struggling

Gone are those days when one had to struggle for to obtain what we call "basic" today. Be it a car, a house, something that you love or maybe a job. And because of this , success be it in any small sphere was sweet. Jobs these days are so easily obtained by students that they do not value it. Mobile Phones, Ipads etc are so easily obtainable that its no big deal at all. People dont have to struggle hard for this. And this is the primary reason for fights, separations, non satisfaction. This does not have anything to do with wealth or community. Everyones just running that race blindly to obtain obtain and obtain...to such a limit that the small things are neglected, the joy of buying your first car, or completing your degree ,these things are nothing at all these days. People then, valued things and people so much more and found happiness in the smallest things, were satisfied and lived a very abundant life.
"People have forgotten that it is things that  are to be used and not people"

This is also because, one does not want to struggle and always tends to chose the easier path. With everything and information so abundantly available, people seize to work hard. Compare the youth of say 20 years back and now. Youth today is not use less, but definitely used less. With the ease available today we can do wonders, if people then had the liberty and ease of information we have today, they would have without a doubt done and achieved tremendously . There is always a sweetness in struggling. Its about the mind and not material at the end of the day, which people of this generation need to understand. You have to keep struggling your way through be it in any sphere, any dimension, any age and the we need to be so much more down to earth, value family more and strive for excellence for material. Remember, any one can get a job. But once you keep struggling your way through, jobs and people will come running behind you and thats when you can behave like a boss. Not until then. So value small things, small people and work your way through and always be humble.

Everyone has to struggle at some point or the other without which you dont understand the true essence of achievement.

Mind Blowing Conversations

A good conversation is no less than a tonic that can heal us. These days with the growing use of media and technology, seldom do all of us just plain sit and talk. How often do we talk to our parents, say for hours and hours together or for that matter an old friend?Just few days back I happened to bump into an old acquaintance and believe me, we went on and on about life and things that mattered   and the conversation and that amazing feeling just stayed on with me for days. I didn’t feel any better for   years. We are so caught up with our daily activities, our dreams, our lives that we don’t have the time to just talk. In fact I also was talking to my grandmom’s old friend few days ago, and she shared so much with me, about her old days in fact she told me how alone she is that this conversation was definitely not less than a tonic for her. Striking a conversation with someone is actually the easiest thing to do. However we overlook such basic things these and complicate lives for ourselves. There is so much one can learn about and share once one converses. We definitely have to simplify our lives and understand the value and the soothing effect of giving the time and talking to our mates, friends, close acquaintances. In fact at times, conversing with strangers also makes you so happy that you wouldn’t think would do. Not conversing infact stresses one out and misunderstandings arise. These days we all are so hooked on to social networking that we don’t even have an idea about the humongous amount of time we spend doing such unimportant activities and how less we communicate or talk. You wouldn’t realize but there could be such amazing conversation s that could actually last a lifetime. Another important way is writing letters. The closeness and empathy that you felt in a letter doesn’t exist in writing emails. A yet better way..TALK  IT OUT.

As said by Mark Twain-“A mans character maybe learned from the adjectives which he habitually uses in conversation”

Pedal your way

Yesterday I came across a delivery boy. He looked hardly above 10, and was riding a bicycle meant for adults, that was twice his size. The rather good part of this is that how many of us have realized the simplicity is riding a bicycle? These newspaper boys, delivery boys, milkmen ,people residing in villages all rely heavily in cycles. This in turn keeps them extremely fit and strong. Whereas we city dwellers often happen to look at cycling as a low,”not cool” means of travelling. How can we give up the luxury of  a Mercedes, an Audi, a Hayabusa and switch on to something as basic as cycling? Well, we live in a fool’s paradise. Cycling not only makes you stronger, fitter but builds up endurance which is an extremely important tool to build up patience .This helps immensely in keeping a control of our minds between the day to day rut that one has to go through.
It is cheap and an effective means of cycling. In India, even though many people know this, they will not implement it as they get caught up in thoughts like, “Im too old to cycle”, “It will be embarrassing for me to cycle through the roads in formals to work” .”People will think, shes  kanjoos  to buy a car. She could have atleast bought a scooty”. Well, who cares what people think. When you will be unhealthy, will these help come to your rescue?
In countries like London, many of the richest few donot own vehicles. They prefer cycling down to work using the public cycles in blazers, all geared up for the big meeting. That is one of the reasons why they are healthy, not only physically but mentally as well.
We have complicated our lives so much with unnecessary things that we have forgotten such basic means of enjoyment. Also, it is the best means of cardiovascular exercise one can think about.

So, take your step..get on that bike and increase your happiness quotient!
I have started cycling ..You’re next!

Rabindrasangeet

Here is one of the most smoothening and pacifying music existing in our Indian culture. Started in the 1800’s by Rabindranath Tagore ,most of which translated from their Scottish versions, are undoubtedly the element to look out for. The lyrics being mostly related to nature and music in its purest form gives much more than satisfaction.Only by listening to it (and not understanding the lyrics) itself brings such sense of joy that when one truly understands and relates to the the lyrics, it is addictive. It is like a drug that only Ranbindra Sangeet afficionado’s understand. They undoubtedly provide a true sense of being and theres nothing like listening to Ranbindrasangeet with a cup of tea in the early morning. It totally alleviates your entire day!
These days however, with the daily rut and nuisance all over, most people have complicated their lives. Ranbindrasangeet essentially connects you with your inner being and with nature. It is sadly restricted to the East India and the Bengalis settled elsewhere. We must make an effort to publicise it more so that this piece of art gets more recognition ,something that is very well deserved. Shantiniketan(West Bengal) is the land of Rabindrasangeet. So guys, where do we start from?
These are a few songs that one can begin with and understand the meaning in totality. Then nothing at all can separate you from your Peace Of Mind. This essentially shows you the meaning of being materialistic and just being. Most of these have also been translated into Hindi songs song by the great Kishore Kumar .Also most of them have been attempted by legendary singers like Lata Mangeshkar,Asha Bhosle, Kavita Krishnamurthy,Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan and so on.

1.       Purano shei Diner Kotha (those were the days my friend)
2.       Aaj amader chutti re bhai(yaaay!finally we are free)
3.       Dariye Acho tumi amar gaaner opare( With my song , it is you that I see)
4.       Aguner Poroshmoni Chowar prane( Power of Agni!)
5.       Jodi Tor Daak Shune Keo Na ashe, tobe ekla chole re( Walk your path alone)

So friends, Cheers to  the new beginning!
